COFFEE STORY - MITAD DEL MUNDO

Mitad del Mundo, meaning “Middle of the World,” is a coffee sourced from smallholder producers in the Loja region of southern Ecuador, near the Peruvian border. Coffee cultivation here thrives amid ideal conditions—high altitude, balanced climate, rich biodiversity, and the region’s lush, fertile mountains. This unique terroir gives the coffee remarkable balance and depth, reflecting the harmony of its environment. These factors combine to create a cup with distinctive notes of cacao and assorted fruits.

AT THE FARM

Farmers in this region follow careful, time-honoured practices to ensure exceptional quality. Skilled local pickers select only the ripest cherries between June and August. After harvest, the coffee is fully washed at on-farm wet mills, then fermented for 24–36 hours before being dried on parabolic, covered patios.
